Where I Need to Focus While I’m Experiencing Hardship

First, recognize that everyday is still a day the Lord has made. "Let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Ps. 118:24). Everyday is given by God for a purpose, and we should acknowledge that (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).

Second, We must not let our focus be mostly "under the sun,” which is focusing more on the secular life and chances within it rather than on God's sovereign control of all life. Note Solomon's conclusion: "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

Thus, fortunes and misfortunes in this life come to every man, regardless of his station in life (master/oppressor or slave/oppressed).

Third, Focusing "above the earth" (on God) helps us conclude "the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). Lastly, The Apostle John wrote, "And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us" (1 John 3:23-24).

I can't think of anything more relevant than this, although, "under the sun," I can empathize with many human sentiments.

Blessings!
