Twisting The Meaning of Scripture

Thanks, Mark, that was amazing information about Eugene Peterson. I’ve never read his translation because I’m not all that interested in modern translations. Most of them are too loose or “modern” for me, not aligning with the original languages of Scripture. The danger is that, by their “upgraded” versions, they either add or detract from the biblical text which merits God’s rebuke (Prov. 30:6), a loss of blessings, and added judgments from God (Rev. 22:18). This was also done by the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Church of Christ Scientists, etc. The Apostle Peter wrote of such people (2 Peter 3:15-16). They are modern-day spin doctors, ignoring the literal meaning of Scripture by opting for an allegorical interpretation which opens the door to obscurity and deception. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor. 4:3-4). Satan works hard to keep people from properly understanding the written word (Bible) so that they are blinded from believing in the Word (Jesus) who was God (John 1:1).
