The Only True God

In His high priestly prayer, Jesus said, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3). In other words, eternal life is knowledge of “the only true God, and Jesus Christ…” This knowledge is revealed only by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13-15). Thus, the only true God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, known as the Trinity or “Godhead”(Acts 17:29; Rom. 1:20; Col. 2:9 KJV & NKJV). Therefore, a person who disbelieves in the only true God does not have eternal life. The Father cannot be known without knowing the Son (Matt. 11:27), and the Son cannot be known without the Father revealing Him (Matt. 16:16-17). The Holy Spirit reveals them both to a sinner who HEARS and BELIEVES the gospel (Eph. 1:13-14 in light of John 16:13-15). Then he or she becomes a saint. Atheists don’t believe in the only true God nor any god at all. Thus, their only alternative is believing in ultimate falsehood, which amounts to a denial of reality. Senseless! Why bother denying nothing? It makes much more sense denying something or someone existing than what or who doesn’t exist. The only true God can be denied, but He still and forever will exist. He is ultimate reality, and without Him NOTHING would be. Therefore, eternal life is a reality and is available for all who believe in the only true God through the Lord Jesus Christ. His Word says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Blessings!
