THE G-L-A-D B-E-D

I recently explained how I pray against yielding to known sins (called “presumptuous” sins) which I’m prone to commit and against those which I’m unaware of (called “secret faults”) yet may be unknowingly committing. Some thoughts were added to this text. Here’s my explanation:

“After meditating upon Psalm 19:13-14 (read it), I think of the following acronym that lists sins I pray against being in my life:

G-greed

L-lust

A-arrogance

D-deception (hypocrisy)

B-bitterness

E-envy

D-doubt

God knows about other sins I’m unaware of, and by His grace and mercy He constantly strengthens me to resist them (Philippians 2:13). When I become aware of them, I comply with 1 John 1:9. I can never again be condemned by God according to Rom. 8:1, 34. So, as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as my redeeming Savior, I do my best to practice the following:

Pray - Luke 18:1; 1 Thess. 5:17

Read God’s word - John 8:31-32; 17:17

Live constantly depending upon Him -

John 15:5; Gal. 2:20

Desiring to use my spiritual gift - Rom.

12:5-8

Desiring to tell others about my Savior -

Matt. 28:19-29

However, like the Apostle Paul, I still have to struggle with my imperfection:

Rom. 7:18-20, 25

1 Cor. 10:13

Gal. 5:16-18

So, let’s keep praying against the

G-L-A-D B-E-D 🙏🏾”
