Struggling With Understanding God

A Christian sister said:

“Yes. I trust that God knows that my level of understanding of His will is sometimes beyond my mental capacity. I struggle, but I still believe.”

My response:

“Yes, my dear. We’re all like that. I sometimes think to myself, “How can I fully understand God who created my brain?” Like you, I struggle. After 73 years on His planet, looking at the sun (not directly) and the moon, I’m convinced that He is the creator (Isaiah 45:12). Since, as is often said in cliché fashion, “God is good all the time,” then His purposes are inevitably good all the time. That’s why, though we still struggle, we should stay mindful “that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). But we should pray hard that our struggles don’t overwhelm our minds (Philippians 4:4-8). Our Creator loves us (1 John 4:9) and has secured us in our salvation – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:3-5). May God use His Word to strengthen your faith.

Blessings!”
