It’s always good to know what the words in church songs mean. I love the song, “Awesome God.” The Hebrew meaning of key words helps. Here goes:
”Our God (Elohim, ruler, or judge) is an awesome (to be feared, reverenced, and honored) God.
He reigns (as King, Counsellor, Advisor) from Heaven (the highest heaven
[1 Kings 8:27]) above.
With wisdom (divine skill, shrewdness, and prudence), power (strength, might, and valor), and love (deliverance care, protection, provision),
our God is an awesome God.”
I realize many don’t sing with meaning in mind, but when they do, they will see that every song truly about God is “Awesome!” Blessings!
