A dear brother shared multiple Bible verses with me to make the point that all politicians lie at one time or another to get votes.
These are the verses he shared:
Ten Commandments: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" (Exodus 20:16)
Colossians 3:9: "Lie not to one another"
Proverbs 12:22: "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but they that deal truly are His delight"
Proverbs 19:5: "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape"
Revelation 21:8: Liars will be among those judged.
I totally agree with him. He’s strongly anti-Trump, but my “love covers a multitude of (his) sins.” 😄
Really, he and I are good friends. The following is my response to his text:
“Thank you for those verses. I certainly concur with God's word and your comments. I would add Rom. 3:4 which says, "Let God be true but every man a liar." That's quite an indictment on all of us.
I wish it didn't include preachers since I am one, but I have to "fess up." However, as believers, we can be thankful for the indwelling Holy Spirit of truth who plants in our hearts what He desires in us. As King David said in Psalm 51:6,
"Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom." Thus, we should desire truth in all facets of life, especially in the church.
So, how do we stay liberated from lies? Jesus said, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32). Again, thank you for sharing those verses coming like bullets in rapid-fire succession. All of them "pierced" me anyway. As Election Day approaches, let's seek truth and vote accordingly. 🙏🏾❤️”
Blessings!
