I suspect lots of scare tactics will be used primarily to get control of people, especially low-information and poor people. Although I believe that COVID-19 is real, I also believe it’s overblown and used as a scare tactic, and it’s working. Making people fearful also makes them dependent upon someone to “help” them and eventually control them. Ultimately, the “helper” will want to replace God (2 Thess. 2:3-4). But, sincere love for the Lord dispels fear (1 John 4:18-19). Yes, it is wise to be careful and cautious, but since we’re God’s children, it is unwise to allow fear to govern our motives and outlook on life (Isa. 41:10, 13). Thus, we can be as confident as the psalmist (Psalm 27:1-6).
