Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This war started with Satan who opposed God while still in heaven (Isa. 14:12-15). After Satan’s expulsion from heaven (Luke 10:18), the war continues (John 8:44; Eph. 6:11; 2 Tim. 2:26; James 4:7; Heb. 2:14-15; 1 Peter 5:8-9; 1 John 3:8; Rev. 2:13; 3:9). Satan even has a powerful demon (called a “prince”) ruling over each world domain (of ancient Persia [Iran] and Greece [see Dan. 10:12-13, 20]). While we cannot escape the war, we can entrust our lives to the One who will win the war over Satan and his cronies (Rev. 20:6-10). Currently, during this Church Age (AD 33-2020), true believers in Christ are taught to “take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:13-18). Please don’t gloss over the key words in that passage: (1) TRUTH, (2) RIGHTEOUSNESS, (3) GOSPEL OF PEACE, (4) FAITH, (5) SALVATION, (6) SWORD OF THE SPIRIT = WORD OF GOD, (7) PRAYING, (8) SUPPLICATION, (9) WATCHING, and (10) PERSEVERANCE. All are significantly necessary as we engage in our ongoing spiritual battles and the spiritual war in general. The final outcome is already determined: WE AS GOD’S CHILDREN WILL BE VICTORIOUS (1 Corinthians 15:57-58). Meditate on these things.
