Only God Has the Attribute of Aseity
Aseity means existence without cause and absolutely independent. Without cause implies eternality and absolute independence implies unlimited power. These descriptions, therefore, cannot be applied to humans and angels. Humans can’t live without the earth and its life-giving elements. After all, man was created from the dust of the earth (Gen. 2:7). They return to the dust when they die (Gen. 3:19c; Ps. 103:14). Angels are spirits
and thus cannot die physically. Nor do human spirits die but will exist throughout eternity, either in heaven or hell.
