My Thoughts on Memorial Day

I’m grateful to all of the living veterans and their families, especially those whose loved ones perished while serving our country. I’m always proud to say I’m a veteran (Vietnam Nam Era), but I have the highest respect for those who fought in foreign wars, whether they were not injured, injured, or paid the ultimate sacrifice. The sovereign God’s purpose for each of us is based on His calling and is absolutely good

(Romans 8:28), though too profound to comprehend. Ironically, I was saved and felt the call to preach while in the military (Air Force). That was definitely God’s doing because those were not my goals. However, the power of the gospel (Romans 1:16), the prompting of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3), and God’s calling to worship and serve Him (Hebrews 5:4), so revolutionized my thinking and thus my lifestyle that I became like the man described in Psalm 1. I faltered at times but kept my focus on my Lord and strove with His strength to stay the course (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Blessings!
