Responding to my comments on Jakes and Osteen, my daughter texted: “Wow. Very in depth Daddy. I never knew that you deemed them false prophets. So why in your opinion do people flock to them?”
My answer: “Either they are very immature believers, ‘babes in Christ’ (1 Cor. 3:1-2), or been saved for a long time but ignorant of the Scriptures (Heb. 5:11-13), or just plainly unsaved (1 Cor. 4:3-4). It’s not always easy to tell which. It wasn’t this way in the early church (Acts 2:40-47), but after 2,000 years the universal church, for not holding to God’s Word, has allowed Satan to make a mess of things. Read Jesus’ evaluation of the seven churches (representing all churches of all periods and of all locations on earth) in Revelation chapters 2 &3. But, no matter what, we who know better must remain faithful to His Word. That’s the ‘bottom line’ with God. I love you ”
