My Attitude Toward Our Government Leaders

Unfortunately, many churches of all ethnic groups are more politically minded than biblically minded. While I’m not antiTrump, I don’t put down anyone who opposes him nor exalt anyone who favors him. In fact, I have never exalted any president that I preferred. Party wise I’m independent. My attitude toward all presidents has been and is according to Romans 13:1-7, 1 Tim. 2:1-6, and 1 Peter 2:13-17. Admittedly, it hasn’t always been easy to obey those passages, especially praying for all our governmental leaders. I have to remember that Christ died for them too and hope the lost ones get saved. Why should I be selfish and shortsighted? Without Christ, my righteousness is as “filthy rags,” and with Christ in my life I still struggle with my flesh (Romans 7:14-20;Galatians 5:17). So, if I (or you) were president, what guarantee is there that things would be better? Since the perfect Creator of heaven and earth allows men to rule on earth (Daniel 2:20-21) whether they are good or wicked, we need to honor that and consider that God had a reason for not putting me or you in the office of president. Think about it.
