Is The Gospel Empty?

Is The Gospel Empty?

A dear brother asked, “Has the gospel been emptied today by men constantly trying to impress with wisdom and eloquence?”

My response:

“Thank you for your question, (my brother). I'll answer it this way:

Empty men have replaced the powerful Gospel with an empty ‘prosperity’ gospel which attracts crowds. Therefore, they prefer the ‘broad road.’

Jesus said, ‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it’ (Matt. 7:13-14).

True believers have always been fewer in number. Only 25% genuinely received the ‘seed’ of the gospel in Jesus' parable of the sower (Matt. 13:1-8, 18-23). That's been happening throughout church history. The Apostle Paul predicted it (2 Tim. 3:1-9). Notice in verses 7 and 8 that he predicts how men treat the truth. The Bible, which is God's truth (John 17:17), has always been rejected by the apostate church. Apostate means to abandon the truth after being attracted to it but not actually believing it. Thus, we see why in today's church many fit the description given in Jude: ‘These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever’ (verses 12-13). So, the gospel will always remain ‘the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek’ (Romans 1:16). Blessings!”
