Is Bert Ehrman a Genuine Beiever?

Bart Ehrman presupposes that Scripture is unreliable and that the resurrection of Jesus has no historical evidence. That’s what logically led him to reject his faith.

Question: “Was he ever a real Christian?” I have my doubts, but only God knows.

(1) If he is a genuine believer denying the faith, perhaps 2 Tim. 2:13 applies, taken to mean by many that a genuine believer’s denial or unbelief doesn’t revoke God’s faithfulness to him/her.

(2) If he is not a genuine believer, then 1 John 2:18-19 applies.

I’m inclined to believe that (2) applies to Bart Ehrman. Why? Because it is possible for a professing “Christian” to deny Christ, even though He died for apostates and false teachers too, and thereby revealing that he/she never really believed.

Note the following: “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction” (2 Peter 2:1). Listen to the debate:

Blessings!
