Claims and Disclaims

Recently, my youngest daughter had a sty removed from her eyelid. I prayed “May it be God’s will that your healing is complete, and there be no return of sties.” She had “claimed” no more would come. I advised her, “Be careful when making claims. Make sure they’re based on Scripture. Many things I have claimed weren’t realized, not because I lacked faith in God, but because my sincere claim was not His will (hard to swallow). It was the same with disclaiming things. Misfortunes came, seemingly without relief. So, I remembered what it says in God’s Word – “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”(James 1:2-5). That really helped whenever my claims and disclaims were not met. God’s will is best, no matter what. That does a lot for my faith. I hope you find that insightful.” I wasn’t telling my daughter not to make claims or disclaims, but to make sure she can support them with Scripture.

Blessings!
