CHRIST IS CENTRAL TO LIFE

Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”

(John 10:10). The word “life” in Greek is zoe which in this context means eternal life (10:28). Eternal life is given by God the Father to sinners who repent and believe on Jesus Christ to be saved (John 3:36). All believers are experiencing it now on earth, and will also beyond this life into eternity. In the mean time, we live our earthly life (this “life” in Greek is bios from which the English word “biology” comes) in such a way “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life (bios) in all godliness and honesty” (1 Timothy 2:2b). This means a prayerful life (see 2:1-2a). It’s also a life centered in Christ “in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). Thus, all answers to our questions and directions for our daily walk are in Christ. The wisdom He gives is exposed everywhere (Proverbs 9 and 10). Jesus Christ came with this “wisdom and knowledge” to bear witness about the truth regarding His Father (John 14:8-11), as well as about life’s origin, meaning, morality, and destiny (John 18:37). The knowledge He gives is only for those who fear (revere) the Lord (Proverbs 1:7). Since, as Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life (zoe): no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6), then He truly is central to life. Blessings!
