Choosing Truth Over Mere Political Ideologies

A dear sister who hates Donald Trump and

Republicans texted the following to me:

“What would make Republican leaders have a problem with stricter gun laws, especially on assault weapons, is this a race thing? Do they think we're going to rise up against their evil, racist agenda & retaliate for the horrors of their ancestor's deeds that are still spilling over today? It is clear that the age should be raised for anyone purchasing that type of weapon. Our police force can't be trusted to come to rescue us! I believe they should be outlawed. Canada has zero mass shootings. America should be ashamed, we are so focused on worthless things & egotistical people in power, what are we coming to?”

My response:

“Good morning my dear sister, I respectfully disagree with you except that, yes, America should be ashamed, but our reasons for that belief are mostly different. I'm an Independent. I don't allow politics to influence my perspectives but constantly, as best as I can, align my views with Scripture which makes me more controversial than those associated with political parties and ungodly ideologies. Scripture is in no way political in the modern Western sense but teaches godly morality and ethics of which, I'm well aware, are made to be politically defined. That's unfortunate. Jesus was hated by religious conservatives (Pharisees), religious liberals (Sadducees), and religious and political pagans (Romans). Why? Because He told the truth and thus considered by His enemies worthy to die (John 8:40-41, 44). God's word is truth (John 17:17). People who hate truth (most politicians do) also hate those who stand for truth. I'm willing to be hated by pleasing God than to be loved by the world (John 15:19) and displeasing God. So, dear sister, that’s my response.

Blessings.
