Bearing the Fruit of Love, not Hatred

We must regularly ask the Lord to guard our hearts against hatred and deceit. Rather, we must “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:29-32). To do the opposite is to grieve the Holy Spirit and puts us in the same class as “He who hates disguises it with his lips, But he lays up deceit in his heart. When he speaks graciously, do not believe him, For there are seven abominations in his heart. Though his hatred covers itself with guile, His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly” (Proverbs 26:24-26). May God help us not to grieve the Holy Spirit by relying upon Him so that we can bear fruit as followers of Christ(John 15:5).

Blessings!
