Be Cautious of What Influences Your Thinking

This was the advice I gave to my three daughters (my heartbeats):

I would suggest that you be careful of what you hear from the news media, any of them. Let your thinking be influenced first by Scripture (Proverbs 3:5-6) and be cautious of what you allow to influence your thinking. Always insist on knowing the truth no matter what the cost or where it leads. Truth liberates us from lies (John 8:32). All news media are not deceptive, but more are than not. So, critique and research all sources of information and come to your own conclusions. It may be hard, but there will be times you’ll see the need to change your mind on long-held views if you’d be intellectually honest. I’m sharing this from experience. I love you my dear ones . Blessings!”

I’ve always wanted my children to think for themselves with the influence of Scripture.

Then, as they hear or read things, with intellectual honesty they can detect and weed out lies. It’s impossible to be unbiased, but biased toward truth is a great thing. And, who determines what is truth? God (Romans 3:4).
