Baha’i is a Cult

I was asked by a sister-in-Christ if Baha’i is a cult. My answer is the following: “YES! According to the definition of a cult: “a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader” (Dictionary.com) and according to its unbiblical beliefs (see www.gotquestions.org/Bahai-faith.html). Their natural roots can be traced back to Islam, but their beliefs can go all the way back to two ancient heresies – Cerinthianism and Docetism. Both denied the incarnation and were condemned by the early church. Docetism, sort of a “child” of Cerinthianism, was condemned at the Council of Chalcedon in A.D. 451. Jehovah’s Witnesses are also ‘flavored’ by those ancient heresies.” I might add1 John 1:1-5; 4:1-3, which argue against those heresies. Thus, Scripture helps us discern between what is false and what is true.

Blessings!
