A Congressman Reflecting on His Virtuous Upbringing

After you listen to the following YouTube, read my response:

Regarding the speech, it was texted to me by a close friend who lives in Georgia. It didn't indicate what was up for a vote. I was impressed with the speech. To be honest, I was surprised to hear it coming from a Black Democrat but highly pleased. The speaker's background revealed that he had been raised in the South when white bigotry was the norm, but I noticed that he was positively impacted by two persons, his father, and MLK. He showed me animosity toward white people. I would venture to say, from my observation, that blacks who grew up in the South during the Jim Crow days and shortly thereafter, with both parents, attended church, and/or had a good mentor outside their family, were more educated and generally found better employment than those whose father was absent and had no good mentor outside their family. It's not the latter's fault. I can identify with the latter, but by the grace of God, I survived, got saved, and got blessed as though I was raised by my father. The YouTube speaker is manifesting the virtues and wisdom he was taught by his father and MLK. Today, we desperately need virtuous and wise Christian fathers and mentors for young men of all ethnic groups. May God provide 🙏🏾
